02.20.2008 Aaron Fotheringham on ESPN
“People call it wheelchair skateboarding,” he says with a shake of the head, “and it’s like, oh man, it’s its own sport. It’s hard-core sitting.”
Check out this recent ESPN article on Aaron and the inspirating life he leads for himself, his family and friends and more and more other challenged, young children, who are down to make it good.
12.17.2007 Aaron Fotheringham on ESPN
Here is some recent footage from ESPN and a mini interview with some words of wisdom from young Aaron Fotheringham. Nice 8 set, Aaron! Aaron is definitely taking his lumps for the inspiration of many, and his style is getting smoother by the day.
10.17.2007 Chair Devils
Scott Horton, Courtney Cooper and Chris Bailey are the main event of the recently released Chair Devils DVD. These 2 guys and 1 girl are true skaters at heart. Coping hand drags, nice one-wheelers, flat bottom rituals, wild facial expressions and some impressive drop-ins are always met with amazement and enthusiasm. My favorite was the tow-in bank riding segment at The Wave. Once that was over, general craziness and die-hard skater mentality provokes Team Trouble to go on to break plenty of spokes and initiate further madness. You put a bunch of skaters in a room and watch them entertain themselves. It’s not hard.
Moving on, a segment with Johnny Law on the “No Bikes Allowed” issue at the skatepark was noteworthy, where they had to teach the officer the difference between a chair and a bike, a visual that wasn’t obvious enough for the officer.
Plenty of good stacks later, the thrill of the drop lives on in these wheelchair skaters, so bring on the sequel. Meanwhile, Team Trouble can be found at wheelchairskater.com or a skatepark near you.

- Aaron Fotheringham
08.24.2007 Aaron in Germany
Kaylene Fotheringham updated me on her son, Aaron’s, trip to Germany. View his latest demo over there courtesy of YouTube. Aaron also had the opportunity to try wakeboarding which he obviously excelled at as well.
Aaron is currently in Oregon getting ready for the Concrete Rodeo Finals in Washington. Updates on that soon!

- Leeder at the X-Games?
08.10.2007 Leeder at the X-Games
We know Darwin was on hand, but was Leeder seen going big on the vert ramp?

- Darwin Holmes
08.02.2007 Darwin Holmes at the X-Games
Went to the X-Games Mega Ramp event at Staples Center this evening. I did a double take when I saw Darwin Holmes at the top of the large quarter pipe where he proceeded to drop in for the massive crowd. One turn was enough for a healthy ovation. As I looked all around, I saw all smiles. Too bad we saw Jake Brown take a massive slam, probably the worst skateboard slam ever. He somehow walked away from this horrific fall after several minutes, but wound up with contusions in his lungs and other minor complications. He fell about five stories when you do the math.
07.25.2007 Public Speaking
We have been invited and have accepted to do our first speaking engagement at the 2008 National Adapted Physical Education Conference in San Diego, CA. Bruce Davey discovered Leeder and extended the invitation.
They would like us share with the conference attendees at the General Session how Leeder has inspired people with, or without, disabilities to become more adventurous. We will present artwork through a media presentation to cover the history of Leeder and the toon.
We’re looking forward to it!
07.04.2007 New Digs
I’d like to thank Ivo Janssen for his time and attention in assisting me to test out his new PHP framework called Plant. dizABLED.com is now extremely sleek and sturdy. Thanks Ivo!
The whole shebang has been re-skinned with many new accessiblity features including long descriptions for screen readers, accesskeys, and all the features required by the Section 508 with W3C priority 1, 2, (maybe even 3, still working on it) accessibility guidelines. Fortunately, Ivo gives a damn about accessibility too, and together, we have achieved something here, with the structure of this site and who can actually use it, now accommodating screen readers and other adaptive technologies for enjoying the internet.
The existing cartoons have been output again at higher resolution and are a lot sharper than the last site. Some other archival goodies are in development.
In other words, time to stop procrastinating and actually draw again.
